any intrest in parts at East Coast meet ?

Post by trooper T/diesel »

im starting this thred, to see if theres intrest in moving parts accrost the country when i come to the 09 meet.

if i nag on the guy buy me i think he will let me take his 8x6 high sided traler.

if i made a floor 2-2'6" foot or so abuve the normal floor i could move at least six transes, a aixel or two and mabe one or two engines or mabe a door
though a cab\bed would be rather hard to move. unless some one has a bigger traler i can use.
but if all people wanted was, tale lights and dash board, heater-A\C stuff thats just fine to.

im not looking to make a killing, just pay for some fuel and food.
say i had the big stuff listed abouve, mabe $40-60 a peace.
the small stuff for say $10-30
but if theres say only one, two or three things, then i would want a little more than this.
under stand this is a 2,850+mile drive not counting any side stops for getting parts.

if there was parts that say arrowmntdiesel or some one else in OR, WA, ID. id just stop on my weagh.
going to arrowmntdiesel is about a 500mile side trip
i think the best thing to do is for hom ever wants parts. is to get them and not have the money go thru me for the parts. i would be just the transporter 4

these pics are from arrowmntdiesel little stash, (there not mine).
i (dont think) he has a any 5 speeds he will part with. but i remember a few 4 speeds laying around.
so start thinking now, not later.

I hope the lack of responce doesn't indicate what members think of me as a "Horder" of parts? :? :? Here's the deal.... I do have a certain amount of "extra parts", but I'm not just trying to keep one of these trucks on the road at a time. There are currently three trucks currently registered :) and when one goes down it's not like any of us can walk into the parts store and get parts off of the shelf. We all have experience that! Also what I am finding is alot of us are after the same parts. Certain items I just can't get ahead of and other items I have piles of. But those common items are some interior parts that just don't go bad. Stock diesel intake manifold, air cleaner housings, gasser instrument clusters, bezels, air ducts. All those items just keep piling up. Now if I had a pile of AC diesel mounting brackets or PS brackets or dashpads in good shape or drivers side door hinges or glove box hinges, or temperature controls that weren't broken then I would have something of value to all of us and David could pay for his way back to the meet with some extra spending $ to boot. Those kind of items are the tough ones to get.

What I do have that may interest someone back east is frames that are not rusted. All be it they would require some work to get them stripped down to the frame, I have several that could be still very useful. 2WD, 4WD, SB, LB. I think those are the kinds of items that would be most useful in heading back east to try and keep some more trucks on the road for everyone back there.

In working on this latest Pup project I have started with the truck from the wrecking yard that was wrecked, I have been making a list for what the engine is going to need before I put it back into another truck. Alternator bracket and alternator, upper timing cover, timing belt, oil filter housing and filter, radiator and shroud, clutch, and water pump. All of these items with the exception of the waterpump I was able to walk in the "Pup house" and get off of the shelf. That was pretty cool! :D The clutch was new in the box and came with one of the "Parts truck" that I picked up not to long ago.

I guess where I'm going with this is.... I know I'm not the only one holding onto those important items for the time when I or someone else is desperately in need of one. We have all got to set aside some space and yes a little $ for keeping our trucks on the road. I am so excited for Ed and all the energy he has for the Isuzu projects he is taking on. Man I wish I had that kind of time. Lord knows I have the projects, just don't have the time in the day to put toward them. I am working now on this conversion project and am having a great time doing something to one I have not done yet. Also I am keeping my camera close by.

If you need parts, PLEASE, ask! Just know that those hard to find parts most likely I'm looking for them also. If I do have a few of them I will gladly pass them onto members here first, but I do try to make a reasonable profit so that I have the $ for the next truck that comes around. I believe that all of us should be doing the same and I expect to pay a reasonable price for what I am looking for also. A few members have already benifited from the truck I parted out last weekend and I have a few more asking for more parts. Glad to help out when ever I can. All this said with a smile on my face and very thankful for all the members who are a part of this great site. :D

David,

Leave the rear axle under one of them and use it as the trailer. Make a stack of stuff on top of it. Maybe even leave a good truck box on it and use it for more storage.

i was thinking that it would put to much load, errrr way to much on the tow rig.
plus a stript RV traler gives me breaks on more than two aixls.

well i spoke to the guy with the little traler, he said NO.
he said the tires are over 15 years old :!: and byies ply :!:

but im not giving up yet :!: i found some one with a rusty old horse thats a two axle traler, that i can get for nothing but draging it home.

as it sits now its close to 2 ton :!: but after its floor and walls are torn off. i think it will be about the same wheat as a RV traler frame. :P
doesent some one back east want a frame :?: :D :) :o :(

im thinking that if theres no intrest i ((may)) ask jack to lock this thred on my B-day Aprl 2 or there abouts, if theres no {real intrest} buy then.
it takes time to ship things that far, and be safe.

well i got it home. :P
its a two horse traler, with a tack-room and a long tung. waaaaay ruuuuuuuuuuusty from being on the OR WA coast.
though it looks like the frame and aixals are just fine.

after it was home. i tryd pulling it, (as is) with the trooper, i figurd the rear would drop near the ground. :(
well lets just say, i was more than inprest pulling around on the place.
the rear of the trooper only went 4" down at most, WoW.

I don't know what you mean about rust. Our cattle trailer has 0 paint left. It is now a B-E-A-utiful rust red.
