I ran into a problem this week with my odometer that isnt really a bad thing. Now that i'm back to school I have been putting alot of miles on ~500 a week and have been running alot of wvo. The problem that i encountered it that my trip meter doesn't last for a hole tank of diesel, because it only has digits to 999.9 miles. So after that it just rolled on over with still about 1/2 a tank of diesel. I just wondered if anyone else had this "good problem" or if any of the pups from the 80's even got trip meters.

Re: A good problem
I ran my GMC S-15 (with Isuzu Diesel) 430miles this week and used 2 gallons of B100 which I buy. The rest was on WVO.

The problem with your odometer is typical of the mid 80's Pups. I'm not sure about yours being a 90 model. The numbers that turn, rotate on a shaft that had been grease, but over time gets gooey and stiff. My 82 just started this problem at 262000. I have to take it apart, spread the numbers apart a little and spray some wd40 in there.
Here's a picture of the inside of an 81 speedometer head:

Re: A good problem
Andy, he's saying it IS working...the trip meter just doesn't have enough digits to last a whole tank of diesel because he's using WVO (from 2nd tank, I assume).

Alright, I see it now. The odometer recently stuck on my 82, so I guess that was fresh on my mind.

I used to have a bunch more pictures of an odometer repair I did on an '81 LUV. Here's a link to another member's repair. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=15403&hilit=odometer

I found a few in my old Photobucket account, and saved them back to my hard drive.
