Soot Fart (Jerry)

Post by JoeIsuzu »

I got an email from Jerry's daughter. She informed me that Jerry passed away recently. We have not seen him here in quite a while, but some may remember him. He liked to push my buttons, but I regret not having the chance to meet him personally.

Yes, of course, I remember him. He had a lot of good Isuzu stuff and was quite skillful at pushing buttons. He also showed up at Trooper's Oregon meets.

RIP, Jerry.

I didn't know Jerry for too long, but I had a lot of help from him in things like a 81->84' steering and suspension swap.

RIP.

I met Jerry personally back in 2012 when I was in high school. My dad and I got an Isuzu from him. He was a funny guy and actually pretty nice once you got to know him.

I had the chance to go down to his house and rummage through some parts. If anyone in the Seattle area has a chance it would probably not be a bad idea to go and scoop up the remaining parts. He appeared to have gotten rid of a lot of stuff before he passed, there were no trucks left when I visited the other day. He used to have a massive stash, but it's substantially thinner than the last time I was down there. There are a few 5 speed transmissions, 2wd and 4wd. A complete diesel head (no injectors) Lots of cosmetic parts, a couple of doors that looked pretty straight. There is still some good stuff there and Ella will make you a pretty good deal on whatever you want to take. I walked away with a small tote of some stuff I wanted for a couple hundred bucks.

His daughter emailed me, looking for help finding someone to take it all off her hands. I emailed you, didn't I? Or maybe it was a chat message.

I thought Mark was going up there to get everything. I guess that didn't happen.

Correct, I reached out to her shortly after you passed the info along. Maybe Mark has gone up there since? I was there earlier this week on the 31st. Yeah she'd like it all taken off of her hands if possible. But I wasn't able to do that.

Thank you for relaying the message Jack. I have been in touch with her and I am scheduled to meet with her on next Tuesday. I have a daughter that live about a mile away from Jerry's place and I will be up there this coming weekend.

So sorry to hear about the loss of Soot Fart and it also makes me realize how many other members I have met here that time has gotten away and I have not reached out to them. JLEMOND is one of them. Soon enough we all are going to get a message and feel the loss. I need to get back too Dacula and see my friend again.

I'll keep the board here posted on my trip next week. I believe Halden that your truck that you have stored here at my place came from Gerald..didn't it?

Yep, that blue long bed 4x4 came from Gerald. I was just in town for the holidays and am yet about to travel again for work!

I made it by Jerry's (sootfart's) this week and brought a truckload of parts back with me. i will sort through them and get them put away in the semi trailer full of Isuzu parts. Ella seemed very grateful for picking up the parts and for the payment I gave to her. There may have been some more stuff there but it is going to take a lot of sorting and cleaning to get to the floor of Jerry's shop. I found no injection pumps or injectors. I'm hoping that maybe is what Halden picked up.

Yes I was able to scrounge a couple of IPs and an incomplete set of injectors. It certainly took some digging. There were a lot of good dash clusters on shelves 6 feet off the ground, hopefully you looked up while you were there too! I have a feeling when Jerry sold of his lot of trucks he let people scrounge through his stash, he used to have a massive stash the last time I saw him maybe 5 or so years ago.

I can't recall anybody here mentioning that they'd bought a truck (or other stuff) from Jerry. I wonder where these people are? You'd think they'd be asking questions somewhere. Maybe on the Facebook group.

I've purchased a number of items from Jerry. Is there a way to get a hold of someone to see what is still there in that massive stash?
