Thanks for the opportunity to be part of the forum. Look forward to understanding my new Isuzu rig better. Never had a vehicle like this before. 2005 NPR 5.2 Diesel

Welcome. There's very little an npr shares with an 81-87 pup. A few are fuel filter housing is similar, alternator & vacuum pump (if yours has this style), & runs on diesel

Years ago I worked for a trucking company that owed 7,000 of these trucks. My location had about 1700 to take care of. In the 8 years I worked there only one engine was replaced, 8 starters, 6 turbos, and less than 20 alternators. While all the other brand of vehicles, Sterling, Freightliner, International, Mitsubishi were always in and out of the shop. The Internationals trucks were in and out 2 times a week in many cases. It wasn't uncommon to see a NPR come in with more than 500K miles and there be nothing wrong with it. It was only there for a oil change. The NPR that required a engine gave up at just under 1million miles.
I am convinced that 4HK1 diesel is by far the best engine in its class. Excellent choice and welcome.

I'd have to agree with that. Isuzu (and Hino) are amazingly reliable... I worked for Penske for quite a stretch, those only came in for maintenance... Never any major repairs, save for after treatment, and even then that was pretty rare
