I need some good advice here.
After getting in touch with Denny about finding an alternator that I can have built up to the amperage output I'd like to have, he suggested first finding an electric vacuum pump to take the place of the one on the back of the factory alternator.
I've found this one, it looks promising, and my intent would be to connect the power wire to the brake light switch, as this is now the only component on my truck that uses vacuum. No sense in it running all of the time, when it will only be required at the time of the use of the brakes.

or the HELLA 009428081 vacuum pump, https://www.amazon.com/HELLA-009428081- ... 637&sr=8-1
The Hella shows a brake vacuum switch that I guess would do as well as, or better than, what I had in mind about connecting the power wire to the brake light switch.

commenting so it will show up on my threads. Definitely also up to it.
As for modifications, you can use any fitting alternator and just remove the vacuum pump, no? I mean the bearing on back will be exposed, but this you can easily close with some epoxy glue.

Wouldn't it be wise to use a vacuum reservoir in conjunction with the pump?-

Re: Adding Electric Vacuum Pump
I’m of the impression that a vacuum reservoir is useful for additional items on a vehicle that use vacuum to maintain a position, i.e, blend doors for heating and A/C. Since I’ve never taken something like this on before, I’m doing a lot of research because my braking capabilities are involved here, but it doesn’t appear that in my particular application, that I would require anything more than the vacuum switch to maintain the appropriate vacuum at the time of stepping on the brake pedal.

Re: Adding Electric Vacuum Pump
Denny sent me a link for an adapter bracket kit, the A285, that is fashioned to allow for the installation of a Delco alternator that doesn’t have quite the wide bottom mount on the case.

Kind of pricey for 2 pieces of metal and a bolt, but there all the same.
