Cloudy skies are car working times!
Well my temperature gauge is not working, and since i checked cables, i was suspecting it could be a thermostat not working. Well at least it was often the case on american cars i've worked before. Cooling water also looked messy and rusty, so wanted to replace it anyway.
First remove and clean the overflow tank, god what a mess...
At least advantage in this home, that there is no wife which would complain that you clean it in the bathroom... Hubby likes when i am messy.
Thermostat housing doesn't look too bad. Somehow whole engine looks fine for age / mileage / location it lived since birth...
I honestly do not understand why you would need 3 thermo sensors, but well... Cleaned everything...
New thermostat, and stainless screws and hose clamps
I didn't found any info what refrigerator liquid i should use, so went for the safe bet, and chose green one. I couldn't see color of the old one as it was just rust-color. Spooled once with warm water and put this one in. I will probably do early replace few weeks later when engine cleans it self.
And funny enough, the temperature gauge works now!! New thermostat seems to work... I checked the old one in hot water and it seemed to work, but even at cold was still partially open so engine had no chance to really warm up.
And thats all for today. Good feeling to do something for my darling, not just driving
