If you decide to stick with auto transmissions, I would gladly buy that manual flywheel from you.
I have one, but a bit worried about the clutch slipping I have to do on steep inclines, and having serviceable spares. The clutch plate and custom friction plate are easy. Flywheels, not so much.
Unskilled, uneducated, inexperienced, tools/facilities lacking, and faint of heart, be warned:
All vehicles are hunks of crap. Designed by individuals, the majority of which, have never turned a wrench.
Which one do you want to fall in love with?

I need a flange for my 1.8 diesel turbo. Can you still make one? I’d gladly pay you for it.

Hey Everyone!
I’ve got some more questions if anyone can help me please do.
I’ve found some Amigo transmission that are 4 cylinder gas engines. I’m guessing that since I was told that a transmission from a 4 cylinder gas engine would work that ones of these (1990 and a 1993) would work. However, they have them with a remote shifter and a 4 or 6 bolt shifter. Which one should I get that will fit a 1983 1.8 Diesel engine? Would I be better off getting one from a truck, or suv?
Brian.

Brian,

We don't know which transmissions you found. The Amigos with "4 cylinder gas engines" doesn't quite narrow it down. Are they 2.3L or 2.6L engines? Either one should fit the 1.8L diesel, but they're different transmissions. And which one you need may depend on what you're putting it into. I could not find anything in this thread to tell us what you're trying to do.

Do you want a 2wd or 4wd transmission? Seems only a minute ago, you were wanting an automatic. What's this going into?

I was thinking about an automatic but I decided it would be too difficult to find the flex plate for a chevette and I do have a flywheel. I’ve got another 2 dr Ranger body and I was wanting another 2 wd beater. I place I found these amigos have about 15 different Options so that’s why I wa asking which one would work the best for a small truck such as a 2 dr Ranger.

Of the possible 2wd Amigo transmissions:
MSG-5 (from the 2.3L Amigos)
- probably the lighter of the two
- has a cable-operated clutch

MUA-5 (from the 2.6L Amigos)
- apparently stronger, used behind larger engines
- hydraulically-operated clutch
- higher overdrive ratio (possibly unusable in your application)

Choose the transmission you need first. It's hard to know if you'll need the remote option until the transmission and engine are in the truck. As for 4 or 6 bolt, I don't remember any with 6 bolts. It sounds as though they're not interchangeable, so get a shifter that fits the transmission.
