Sorry I missed the meet even though I have no PUP to show.
But thought about ya'll when I drove to Petersburg today for tractor parts.
With the 45 MPH headwinds I bet some of ya'll had to "skate board em to keep legal speed on the I roads.
Hope to meet everyone next time.
Hope ya had tail winds on the way home and a safe trip.

Well, I see that Andy and Larry made it, hope that there was a good turn out. I hate that I couldn't make it this year, but maybe next year there'll be one here in the Columbia area. Everyone please drive safely back home.

Re: Richmond, VA Meet - April 2, 2011
I wanted to start off by saying a huge "Thank You" to Ed, and his wife, Pam for hosting this Richmond, Va meet at their beautiful place! I know Ed had worked all night long, and that trying to function with a little 2-hour nap is extremely tough to do!
Some may say it was a small turnout, but it was a quality meet! It was such a pleasure to meet Hybridtwin77 & son, Ed Wright, Pam & sister, their nephew, and grandson, Quicknotslow, and SWVAED. The weather was very windy, and right after we ate, we stepped outside to try starting the 87 turbo truck again. We were met by heavy slushy sleet/snow/rain/strong winds.
Ed's father-in-law cooked up some terrific BBQ. In addition, we had slaw, awesome baked beans, potato salad, homemade peach cobbler, cake, coffee & cold soft drinks, & chips.
We would have loved to have had more members there, and understand that some had to cancel at the last minute. Ed Wright and his wife were such gracious hosts. It was a pleasure meeting them, and joining him in his excitement about his Pup projects.
I was fortunate to have gotten the day off work after all! My wife and I enjoyed the 9-hour round trip drive to and from the meet. I got 37.5 mpg with my 298,000 mile Pup...loaded down, w/ a passenger and camper top @ 60-65 mph. Larry had no camper top, no passenger, and very little cargo, & got 33 mpg @ 75 mph. Vehicle speed is definitely a factor when it comes to fuel economy.

A few more picture:
Ok, you SC members...start planning a Columbia meet! We can certainly break our 47 Graham meet attendance record with a SC meet. Then, we can blow THAT record out of the water with a national Tennessee meet!

The photos are great to see. Wow, even the food is labeled! At the risk of repeating what's been said--yes, it's good to be able to put faces with the names (although I'd met some already). Wish I could have been there.

Re: Richmond, VA Meet - April 2, 2011
Hey guys, I couldn't end up making it to the meet. Looks like it was a good one even though the turnout wasn't high. I went on a date yesterday evening and it went really good. That is my main excuse and then I had planned on coming down in the 86 Trooper, but I've had the dreaded CSD fuel leak on the injection pump which I was hoping to repair in time (didn't happen). Without a turbo I need all the fuel I can get to the engine, so in its current state I can't even keep up with modern day traffic on the highway (lol). Will have to shoot for the next one!

Re: Richmond, VA Meet - April 2, 2011
It sure sounds like the weather had a bad breath while you guys were there. All those pictures looked real familiar, Larry and I had a great breakfast there last August when we went to Ed's to get Trooper parts and stayed a couple of days. And like Andy said, Ed and Pam are real great hosts. I really missed not being there, but most of you know that my wife's health isn't the best and that kept me away this time.
I know that there are four of us in the Columbia area that are willing to work on putting one together next spring or this fall here. I hope everyone had a safe trip home.
Andy, you and Larry are killing me with that fuel economy.

Gerald, have you installed the new CSD seal kit yet? Yours is a 5 speed, isn't it?
