Clutch ripping the firewall?

Post by Big-E-85-pup »

Hey I was wondering if the clutch ripping through the firewall was a common issue. Is there any thing I can do to stop or reverse it?

Very common, maybe even universal. Here's one solution.

thats odd... this is the first time Ive seen an Isuzu trying to act like a Jaguar.

3/16" steel plate as big as you can fit in that area installed against the fire wall. Secure with another 3/16" plate on the inside and bolt the 2 plates together. Cut the smallest hole possible into the plate to feed the cable thru. You wont have to worry about it again.

Does the pedal need the return spring?

I've heard of some successfully using a couple of large fender washers on either side of the firewall. May not last long. Arrowmntdiesel made up a nice plate to fix one

Both of my trucks have done this, and my dad's did too. All the 81-87 (US Market) had this issue. Chincy design, and no, we don't ride our clutches :)
