1. I'm an Isuzu newbie with a new 986 Trooper w/ a C223T diesel.
2. I've just gone through my new Isuzu Workshop Manual 1986 P'up (KB) AMI-SVC-114. I'm gearing up to do a general service on my diesel injection system, and have a couple of questions.
3. Disassembling injectors based on chapter 02a Fuel System Diesel Engine
- page 02A-19 shows disassemlby of an injector by removal of the injector retaining nut #10 with a spanner. The accompanying parts drawing shows the #10 retaining nut with a splined exterior that the spanner would engage. Is there a special socket or wrench required to engage that spline? The manual doesn't mention a special tool.
4. Fuel line routing based on chapter 02a Fuel System Diesel Engine
- Page 02A-1 shows a drawing of the chassis with a fuel line circuit having two lines from the tank to the engine compartment: a delivery line and a return line.
- Page 02A-24 shows a blown up diagram of the injection pump. Item #5 is the return-line banjo, identified as on overflow line. Internally, the banjo receives the return-flow from the injection pump, and has 3 radial spigots: #1 connects to drain the injector overflow and #2 connects to return fuel to the tank. What does spigot #3 connect to?
5. CSD function.
- Page 02A-24 shows a blow-up diagram of the injection pump. Item #9 shows an "O-ring: CSD." I don't find any other mention of the CSD. Is there another Isuzu publication that explains the operation and service of the CSD?
