Re: Leaking injection pump

Bosch has several numbers for VE seal kits but one of them is DGK121. The seal kit is used on many VE series pumps, including the Dodge 5.9l engine. And I see a number of offerings at reasonable prices on ebay. Try this one. https://www.ebay.com/itm/175107518398?_skw=Seal+Kit+for+Bosch+VE+injection+...

Re: Leaking injection pump

It might be possible to change the head O ring with the pump in the truck. But, it is highly likely that things inside the pump will fall out of position when you pull the head enough to change the O ring. Also, consider that all of the remaining seals are very old and may leak soon. Best thing to d...

Good ole # 138! She looks in good shape. The mines must have been easy on her.

Re: Description for 3 wires on top of IP

Chris - -

The EGR controller is a black box, much like the glow controller and is located very close to the glow controller under the dash, left side panel.

Re: Description for 3 wires on top of IP

The Ca truck has a throttle position sensor on top of the throttle shaft, which is used, along with the tach, to control the EGR. It has three wires running to the EGR controller. The EGR controller is fed 12v power from the 15a regulator fuse. I do not have a schematic for the EGR controller but it...

I don't have a source for that CSD (as we rarely see them in our shop) but you can just block off the access port with a flat plate. Starting might be some harder in cold weather.

Re: Dad's 1986 Pup

Doesn't look very beat up to me. Also, 100k is definitely low mileage for one of these diesels. A truck worth lots of TLC, I think.

Jack is right, you need to look into those important maintenance issues.

Re: C223 vs C223T injector parts conversion?

I have worked on injectors from both engines and there does not appear to be any difference in the parts.
All you need to do is set the POP pressure to 1920 psi for the turbo engine vs 1490 psi for the n/a engine.

Yes, of course, I remember him. He had a lot of good Isuzu stuff and was quite skillful at pushing buttons. He also showed up at Trooper's Oregon meets.

RIP, Jerry.

Wow!

I have never seen nor heard of this before. A C'shaft will be hard to find. Probably best to find a newer tranny.

Re: Fluid creep

Yes, there is an Oring on the driven gear shaft. Very easy to replace. Unscrew the speedo cable from the gear drive on the tranny & then remove the bolt holding the driven gear assy onto the tranny. Now use a knife/pair of screwdrivers to carefully pry the gear assy from the tranny. Very best to...

Re: IP stops suddenly

Forgot to mention. There is the possibility (as already suggested) that the insulation on this wire is imperiled, especially if the fuse blows only intermittently.

You can use the wiring diagram to follow the harness to inspect it.
