Here is the wiring diagram for the Ca '84 model. Pretty close to your '82'

I just now watched your video. Seems like enough fuel to me. Maybe could be more.

Checking the injectors might be a good idea.

Re: Hard cold start - possibly down on power - help!

Cracked the injectors and had fuel dripping out of them all when cranking (I don't know about squirting). Concerningly, I noticed something smoking by the glow plug sensing resistor, I'll have to double check that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjUgggYqH2I As far as having the pedal to the floor,...

Re: Hard cold start - possibly down on power - help!

I’ll try cracking an injector then cranking with my pedal to the floor and see if fuel is coming out (or when it does). It does seem to help having the pedal to the floor to get started. Having the pedal to the floor should not be necessary or make any difference as the pump is designed to inject a...

Re: Hard cold start - possibly down on power - help!

Just double checking....you have 5volt plugs (and not Autolite. Heard those were junk) , not 12volt, correct? 12v plugs are available for these engines Yes 5v beck arnley. Though they seem to be lesser quality than the last set I put in. Is there a difference with what happens when pushing the prim...

I am thinking that you do have a glow problem. To check this, get a clamp on current meter and check the currents as I previously mentioned. 140 amps at start, and then declining to 40 amps over 7 seconds or so.

You will need a helper to start the glow while you are watching the meter.

Seems like you are still not glowing the best way. Here is my recommendation again:

"The best way to use the glow system is to wait about two or three seconds after the glow lamp has gone out and then crank, but before you hear the relay turn off."

Re: Hard cold start - possibly down on power - help!

I watched your cold start video on you tube and noted the way you were using the glow system. You were running a couple of cycles of hi glow but not cranking and then running the glow by leaving the clutch out and then cranking. If I have this right, it is not a good way to use the glow system. When...

Re: Hard cold start - possibly down on power - help!

I did yet another cold start video. I didn't see any air before / after starting but I did notice some air in the fuel line after the fuel filter once it warmed up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrygSzORa_A I tried T'ing in a vacuum gauge after the fuel filter. I got 2.5 in Hg while running but i...

Re: Clutch/cable problem?

Here are photos of the firewall repair I have made. The material is cut from 3 x 4 inch aluminum rectangular tubing, 3/16 thick, about 6 inches long. One piece of tubing will make two repair parts. The repair part is installed inside the cab between the firewall and the clutch pedal assembly. The te...

Re: Injectors and seats

The factory manuals show up on ebay frequently. Here is an '87 for $180 (or offer) which is, I think too high. You should try for an '86 or '87 as these will include the turbo stuff. Paul https://www.ebay.com/itm/255543100960?itmmeta=01HRACZ21TQ3RWBJ71BHEZ4D0A&hash=item3b7f8e4620:g:1OMAAOSwIQdZH...

Re: Injectors and seats

I ordered one from ebay, so we'll see how this goes. I was looking at this post, https://www.isuzupup.com/viewtopic.php?t=16373 , and it doesn't show the injector cups. Would the heat shield go inside the cup? So assembly in the head would go cup -> flame arrestor -> copper washer -> injector? Well...

Re: Glow plugs don't fire when warm

One other thing. The glow light is driven on by a timer at the start of the glow cycle. The time that the glow lamp is on is set by the glow lamp timer which does not know what the glow relays are actually doing. The glow lamp timer runs about 4 to 5 seconds. Whereas, the glow cycle generally runs s...

Re: Glow plugs don't fire when warm

To what Paul said, my 84 automatic glow system worked perfectly. Regarding the glow light, when the engine was already warm and I came back out from a trip to the store, turn the key on, the glow light would turn in then off right away. It 'sensed' no need for glow plugs and didn't activate the glo...
