Maybe you moved some wires while working on the heat duct, causing a short?

Re: Think I'm getting one! (1992 Isuzu Pickup)
Not too up on 2wd prices, but I'd say $2K is reasonable, given the body condition. Had a fellow offer me $2500 for my '91 2.6 4wd beater farm truck sight unseen. Not sure the $$ difference between 2wd and 4wd.

Re: In line fuel pump
Not familiar with the 2.3 mechanical pump, but here goes. If it runs while blowing air in to the tank, I'd say the pickup tube filter isn't clogged and lines aren't blocked. That would only leave the fuel pump? On the mechanical pumps I've replaced, the lever arm has to be on the correct side of the...

Re: Head gasket
Hate to hear that. Check compression before pulling head, might save yourself some work if it isn't the head gasket. On a 2.3/2.6 engine general opinion is only use either an OEM or a Fel-Pro head gasket, not sure about the 1.9.

On a Trooper, it is way easier to hang a front door if the fender is removed first. Dunno about the pups.

Re: Intake manifold for side draft carburetor
I imagine an engine with dual Weber DCOE side drafts would be a high rpm engine more suited to a "street" vehicle? Would the Weber 36/32 downdraft would be a better choice for an off-road application needing more low end grunt?

You mean the instrument panel backlights? The lights that allow you to see the gauges at night?

Re: From Chile with Luv
The 4JB1 came with the MUA5 transmission. Very similar to the MUA5 transmissions behind the 2.6L 4 cylinder (88+ in US) except the starter is on the opposite side. Not sure if it will bolt to your 4 speed, but I would worry the 4 speed wouldn't be able to handle the extra power/torque of the 4JB1. I...
