Ok, long story short, it is whatever runs through fuse #5 on my fuse box. fuse 5 was a blown 15amp fuse, I replaced it with a 20amp which was all i had and was going to auto store to get more and it blew the 20amp while driving. now it instantly blows any new fuse put in that spot upon trying to start up.

Does anyone know what this goes to, or better yet have a fuse box pinout for 84 pup diesel 4x4? I've searched but haven't found a box diagram that matches mine. Thanks

Check this thread, I've been there.

I still don't know where it's shorting out, but my factory fast-idle thermo-switch is currently bypassed and it no longer blows the fuse.

And here's another thread about fuse #5 blowing, and it's a completely different issue.

So there are at least a couple of things that can cause the fuse to blow (or to be more precise, there are at least a couple of places where the circuit can short out).
