C223T Piston Rings

Postby Redtail Talon » Sun Jul 08, 2018 3:36 pm

Hello again Guys.
I have finally got around to assembling my C223T engine after slowly collecting the parts required for the rebuild. So far I have
Overhauled and painted the starter motor.
Refurbished the turbo.
Overhauled and ported the cylinder head.
Honed the cylinder bores.
Every part of the engine has been stripped down, cleaned, painted and labelled.
Today I put the crankshaft into the block and was hoping to have the bottom end completed. However I have come to a stop as I have discovered that the new piston rings that I purchased are incorrect. The oil control ring and 2nd ring went on easily. However, the top ring does not fit, even though the ring set are definitely marked for my engine code. The top ring in the set is a standard rectangular section, whereas I have now discovered that the original top ring is of the keystone type.
I now have difficulty in obtaining the correct rings to fit my pistons.
Can any of you guys recommend a reputable supplier or the part number for a standard set of piston rings.

Best

Thanks Dorf. I have been searching some older threads and have noticed Jerry Lemond comment on the above issue. I'll try to contact him for more information which I'll post as a reply incase anyone else comes across the same problem on their engines.

If you can not find them, you can always have the top made in gapless by Total Seal Piston Rings

I WOULD. I did have mine made in gapless and NO MORE BLOW BY...

http://www.totalseal.com/

Try give them a call, it's totally worth it.
