Installing an alternator bracket on trucks with no ac

Postby robgt22 » Sun Oct 29, 2017 11:43 pm

I ve seen a lot of folks simply using a NPR alternator, but a bigger alternator can be added a little cheaper if you are running with no ac. An alternator bracket from a Toyota 22r fits perfectly without any drilling where the ac compressor usually goes. Holes line up nicely and there is enough room. From there on you can install any alternator that you have laying around. The bracket can be found for around $10. Hope this helps anyone wanting a bigger alternator without messing with the oil and vacuum lines.

Great upgrade tip! Would there be enough slack in the alternator hookup plug harness to reach?

The oil line for the vacuum pump would definitely not reach. One would have to be fabbed up

I had to extend the wires a little. About the oil lines, I leaved the old alternator in there just for the vacuum pump and used a gas type alternator that I had laying around. Cheaper than buying another one

You may want to PM (private message) robgt22. I doubt he's still watching this topic, it's two years old now.

Here I am! It came out of a 88 22R, I think you could modify it to fit the power steering pump, the bracket itself is really sturdy, I don’t have my truck with me right now but I will send you more pics.
