Led headlights

This is for "general" electrical discussions. Audio, security, remote start, and power accessories should go here, since they don't seem to fit anywhere else. Not for diesel-specific (like glow systems), or gasoline-specific (like ignition systems) topics.

Led headlights

Postby minidiesel » Mon Apr 08, 2019 10:15 am

Ebay $50.oo. Glass housing plug in fan cooled led headlights with ccfl halo. Halo wired to parking lights. Pulled grill ,painted and made led lighted acrylic isuzu emblem also. Headlights are slightly brighter, but not blinding to oncoming traffic. I never understood blinding oncoming traffic, isn't that deadly?

Thanks for the link. I'm not a halo fan, but I'm looking at what's out there. So these have high and low beams?

Yes they do have hi and low. The halo's have a positive and negative lead separate from main led connector. They can be wired to parking lights or turn signals. I like the glass lenses.

Are you saying the halos ARE the low beams?

No high and low beam is center l.e.d.
Ccfl (halo ring) is seperate.
Led, high and low do the 3 prong headlight plug in(standard).
Ccfl wire with a separate positive and negative wires, to location of your choice (parking lights or turn signals are most popular). I chose parking lights thinking it would give other drivers a better view of me, if I was running only parking lights (hazy daytime?).
Having run them two nights I love them.

I think I'll check to see if there's a non-halo version. I'm just too old for halos. ;)

I thought about getting the amber ones to wire in with turn signals. But I like the idea of using the halos as Daytime Running Lights (DRLs), and that means white.

I wish I could see a pair of these in an LS P'up grille in the daylight (to help decide between the black and the white ones), but I guess that would cost me $59.99 just to see it. ;)

I was also looking at these "projector" style headlights --
https://ebay.us/wy74K4 (white)
https://ebay.us/wRnEiT (black)
For some reason they're $10 cheaper. But I'm skeptical of non-HID "projectors". :| Anybody got an opinion of the "projector" style lamps?

I'll get a daylight pic tomorrow (in the daylight). I do like the daytime running light, people can see you a little better.

I drive with my headlights on all the time. It's actually state law for school buses (I'm a driver) for them to be on if there are passengers on board.

It is amazing how much more visible cars are when their lights are on

In my mind a big plus for pup owners is low power draw.
I converted all lighting to led (headlights, park, brake, dash and even headliner location light. Lessening the load on the alternator is the same as running a bigger alternator. Day time pics for jack

I was about to buy a set, but I asked the seller about DOT approval. He replied that they are not DOT approved. I think I'll wait for other options.
