Finally, a Touch-screen Head Unit for Single DIN Applications

This is for "general" electrical discussions. Audio, security, remote start, and power accessories should go here, since they don't seem to fit anywhere else. Not for diesel-specific (like glow systems), or gasoline-specific (like ignition systems) topics.

Finally, a Touch-screen Head Unit for Single DIN Applications

This came out LAST year, but I didn't see it until an article on the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) mentioned it. I'm not an Alpine fan, but this concept looks intriguing and is a new approach -- a 9" display but mounted on a single DIN "mechless" chassis. It just might work.

Yeah, at $899 (Crutchfield) it's pricey -- but it gives me hope. ;) Here are some pics, but there are several interesting others at the Crutchfield link above.

First things first. ;)

By the time I get to the interior, maybe the prices will have dropped. But it even has HD Radio (high on my priority list), which Pioneer seems to ignore in their mass-marketed head units. You can get it, but you have to order a model that's not generally discounted.

I looked at some of the customer pics. It even an OBD-II input and displays all kinds of data (if only we had the ODB-II).
