Diesel price

Postby soot fart » Sat Jun 21, 2014 9:38 am

The price of diesel and regular gasoline were both $3.99 gal here. Been many years since that has happened at least here. Tired of being gouged eh? Jerry

Not the way I hoped it would happen. I'd rather see the diesel go down, but the 90% regular (the rest being ethanol & water) at $3.99, wow!

I,ve really started to notice this. It used to be that diesel and hi test were always the same price. In the past month diesel has been equal to a little less than mid grade. Equal to 87 octane gas is something I have not experienced, but I am glad to hear about it. Diesel around New Orleans is about $3.55 per gallon. Also similar across Alabama and Mississippi. Georgia diesel is at least $3.73 per gallon around Atlanta. Still, $2.00 fuel would be better. When dad bought our pup diesel was $0.72 per gallon. Those were the days - and yet we still ran most of the time without AC to save fuel - although I think some of that was to brag about fuel mileage.

I remember the gas wars in 50s/60s. We could get a couple gals of gas a pack of LSMFT and a box of 22shorts and go gopher hunting for a buck. I ran across my NRA training membership card the other day from "59". I was 11.

You old dudes will remember LSMFT eh? Jerry

Nor did camels, and I remember $0.17 a gal and a carton of cigs with a fill up in the very early 50's, in California no less.

Camel offered a filter a little later. I remember gettin a buzz off those camel spitters. My dad smoked em and I still remember that tobacco smell sitting in the back seat of that 56 Pontiac Chieftain. I think its illegal to smoke here in Wa.St. with kids in the car. Jerry

LSMFT, was the abbreviation in the advert for "Lucky Strike Means Fine Tobacco", or so the claim was!

Hey Jerry, my dad had a 55 Cheiftain I wonder if anybody ever considered putting a diesel in one of those. I doubt if a 223 would move one of those. That's what I learned to drive in. haha, Phil

I hardly notice the prices... It takes forever for my imark to run out... Though diesel on broadwY in Everett is 3.79 now... It's worth driving 7 miles to fill up.
