Howdy

Postby KJPUP » Tue Jan 12, 2021 1:17 pm

Hi,

I joined to learn more about the truck I drove back in High School. I am researching before I go looking for another one. The memories might be better than another project but who knows!

Thank you,
KJ in Dallas, TX

Welcome to the site, KJ. We'd love to see any pictures of the pup you had, if you can dig 'em up

I will have to go digging for photos. It was a ‘78 in yellow with a topper. I was easy to spot driving around. My parents probably liked that feature... lol

You are correct. It was a Luv. Our neighbor Ralph had an ‘81 pup diesel also in yellow. I always liked his better. He was the reason I started driving diesels. I was on a Mercedes and VW diesel kick for years. I drove the Sprinters for work and had a VW TDI at home. My current car is the first gas powered ride since college 15 years or so ago.

Over the years, I've had a few diesels:
1980 VW Rabbit
1983 P'up (still have it)
1986 TD Toyota Camry
1990 Mercedes Benz 350 SDL (first and last MB for me, no thanks!)

Ok, I have to ask -- what sort of device are you using to access the site? It's doing "curly quotes", and they don't play well with some browsers:

Not only is it adding curly quotes, but like every one I've ever seen, it's inappropriately using an open single-quote where an apostrophe is appropriate. This guy nails the issue:
Smart Quotes and Dumb Apostrophes

Sorry, nothing for you to worry with -- I was just curious.

A buddy of mine tried for a while to get me into the Mercedes game. Just can't bring myself to do it. Something about fearing for your life makes these so fun to drive... Welcome aboard!
