Alternator wiring woes, help!

This is for "general" electrical discussions. Audio, security, remote start, and power accessories should go here, since they don't seem to fit anywhere else. Not for diesel-specific (like glow systems), or gasoline-specific (like ignition systems) topics.

Alternator wiring woes, help!

Postby DoodooIsuzu » Thu Feb 07, 2013 5:23 pm

Alright so I'm wiring up the KA24 alternator to the Isuzu Chassis. I have the 240 Dummy light running the to dash already, but there's something stumping me. I know there's an alt. wire that goes to the fusebox for both cars, but on the Isuzu alternator setup there's a thick white wire on the three plug connector and a fatter white wire with its own clip. They both meet up in a fusible link and go to the fusebox. My question is the single clip wire, should that just be merged on the 240 plug, or does that go with the battery terminal connector on the back of the alternator? Here's a picture to help.

As you can see the fat wire on the 240 alternator would go to the 240 fusebox, but I'm splicing the Isuzu wire off the 3 wire connector. It's the back connector from the Isuzu I'm wondering about, does that back wire go to the ALT battery connector, or would I put both to the 240 plug? Thanks in advance.

Oh, if you still have the diagram out! I needed to know the Positive and negative for the coil. I think the black/red is negative and black/blue is positive. Can you confirm this?

NOT SURE BUT THIS IS WHAT IT SHOWS BLK/BLU LINE COMES FROM FUSE #9 AND IS CALLED THE SECONDARY THAT FEEDS INTO COIL FROM TOP,LEFT , IF LAYING ON SIDE . FOLLOWS STR8 THROUGH TO DISTRIBUTOR CAP (COMING OUT OF THE COIL AS A BLK.WIRE ) THE RED/BLK COMES OUT OF COIL RIGHT SIDE .THERE IS ALSO A BLU WIRE FEEDIND INTO THE PRIMARY OUTPUT CONTROL ON THE IGNITER UNIT.THE RIGHT SIDE OF COIL IS CALLED THE PRIMARY . THERE IS ALSO A BLK/YEL WIRE COMING OUT AT SAME PLACE BLK/BLU FEEDS INTO COIL, AND GOES INTO THE IGNITER UNIT FROM THE TOP . I'LL SEE IF PUTPUTIN CAN TELL ME HOW TO GET A PIC. FOR YOU . MARGARET

if you have a smart phone, you can download an app called CamScanner. It uses the camera's phone to take a picture of (let's say) a schematic diagram. Then you can convert it to a PDF (Adobe Acrobat) file, then choose to email it to your own email, then retrieve it, and post it on the forum.
If not, you can take a decent resolution picture of the page w/ a regular digital camera, download it to your computer, then post it.

Or send a picture in a picture message to your email, and download it to your computer if you don't have a smart phone.

Alright cool, cool. One more question, the oil pressure sending unit that goes to the tach, what color is that wire? Just trying to wrap up my swap.

And the original coolant temp sensor! I set myself up for failure when I pulled my motor and didn't look at all of the wires. ):
