Wanted to thank everyone for the great Pup gathering this past weekend. I had a really good time and wish i could have stayed longer. I gained a lot of new knowledge in a short period of time. Everyone was very generous in answering questions and showing off their vehicles. Thank you for hosting, David. Hope to see you all again next year. I'm sure i'll have plenty of more questions posted on the forums in the mean time.

It'd be cool if a pre or post camp out was more promoted and attended next year. Camp fires are good for the soul.

Great pictures Paul. Those burgers were great, I hadn't had one in months. Was delo 10w-40 used as the sauce?

Thanks for the great pictures. I found a Saab intercooler at a upullit and was wondering if you have pictures of how you modified the ends of the intercooler. The Saab 9000 intercooler that I saw has plastic ends and was not sure if it was the same type as the one you modified. The piping on the intercooler of my 96 NPR looks like it changes diameter three times which would reduce the air flow. The intake on the NPR is on the opposite side so the return piping is less. I was going to keep the piping the same diameter with large radius and smooth transistions where needed unless there is some I am not seeing.

I am thinking of using the Saab intercooler on the 86 4x4 pup I am putting a diesel into

Jim--

Well, this post might ought to go somewhere else. Anyway, yes, the Saab 9000 intercooler has plastic manifolds and some ears that stick out. I bent the aluminum tabs that retain the plastic up enough so that the manifolds could be separated from the core.

Then, I made new manifolds from aluminum rectangular tubing to fit the application. These are tig welded to the core header. Here are a couple of shots of my cooler.

Thanks Paul
Nice work and more welding and fabrication than I had envisioned. I should have ask the question in another section maybe Jack can move so it will be easyer to find.

Jim,

There was a photo in Paul's original post--
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=26#p77
but it was a Photobucket image, and it's no longer there.
