GEN2 N\W Oregon area meet, June 29, 2013

Post by trooper T/diesel »

well its been about a year now.....

how many people could make it to a meet some time this early summer? around zip 97048
about an hour + from ol P town.

11, 18 or 25 of may
are meeting night shifted from the 2nd sat to the 3rd THR to help free up the weekends for rentals and events....
i was thinking the 5/25/013 would be later and in theory not as cold out....
or move to spring brake, if that helps people make it :?:

since last time the water has been fixed so the "facilities" work now...
ive got a cola Vending machine :P
even fixed the leaky roof....
and where also considering a cell booster at the hall, to do away with the 911/local phone that cost 300+ a year but its not going to be easy to mount it as it will need to be on the peek of the roof and thats just about 40 feet up   so that's lily not going to be finished yet..

ok hears my little line as master.

as the master or any other grange member will know we no longer have a in come from annual dues.
all cash taken in from the 25~ members are sent to the state level do to them razing the amount they need. so since the dues have gone up twice in the last three years and driven off 1/2 the members. we have decided to run with out upping the amount 5.00 and driving off more members

so in short for every one that has no clue what the grange is.
if any one that came could make a small donation of truly "any amount", that would help greatly in my little goal of keeping the doors open and are books in the black.

if 25 people could give $6.00 each that would cover the 75 a day fee that we would get for renting to non members for two days.

ok thats over.

I presented this idea at the meeting and there was no opposition at all, just them wanting to know what we planed on doing.they where not interested at all in having a engine, trans rear end taken in to the hall and tore apart and then put back in one peace.

but the idea of a glow plug slid show and IP taken apart and lade out like we had back east was seen as a ok thing.
for as long as i was there at all times when the doors where open, hall usage form is filled out, and they know if we are using the coking stuff/up stars floor and the no drinking rule is up held. thats about all they are concerned about.

smoking out side is permitted buy the grange, but in fire season its a no no being in forest land un less your in a auto with windows up.
we do this before July, we could even have a camp fire that some wanted so bad last time.
July is when fire season kicks in, September is when it goes off...

the only other issue is, people finding the place and getting back home

fastest way for a modern auto 59.1 mi

I think it sounds like a great idea! It also means I don't have to do any planning to have it up here! Hahaha the only problem is I may be in school... How far is this place from Rexburg Idaho?

not every state has spring brake the same week.
thus why i thought about moving it to a week end where your caching the tale of one and the start of another states spring brake.
that would let more people come.

lets see....800 miles "one way" + two stops, id do it in one + avrege speed including stops 50mph "no cargo" = 16 hours of driving + the time when your stoped.
28 mpg + 1,600 miles = 58 gal of fuel or X 4.00 = $232.00 in fuel
so one long hard days drive.....and a cupal Bengermens + a bit in fuel.

You might get more people if you wait until mid June when school is out.

School for me won't get out until mid July... But I am totally willing to make the trip up. These meets are great and very valuable. But i probably will drive my I-mark... Hopefully my dad would drive the pup, if he goes....

Wow David, you really went all out for me on that, for the fuel and Time calculations... I might be driving my imark so ill be off pretty good with fuel so long as I stay around 55-60 MPH. I'd probably do that in one stop as well. My dad and I have done SLC UT, to our house in just over 12 hours... Needless to say it takes a lot of speeding to do that... So 16 hours sounds right. I will attend this thing no matter what really... Doesn't hurt to take a friday off and drive through the night of thursday evening...

That will make a lot of driving for me, I might be driving up to seattle for the next weekend, but I do like little road trips...

So it turns out if we have it on the weekend of the 29th that would be absolutely perfect, since I will already be in Oregon that week playing for an organists convention... Though I don't plan in staying for the whole convention since they won't pay my admission and board for it and I really can't afford it... The only problem I have is I am a poor college student, so I can't afford to stay in a hotel or anything like that . I also can't afford to drive up and back from south east Idaho 2 times in one week. The stipened they are giving me barely covers fuel, it sucks bein' a kid... Would any of you Oregonians be willing to put me up for a little less than a week? If there is anything you need doing, I am kinda handy around the house/yard.

This sounds like a great idea, and around then I'm pretty flexible as far as the date goes.
I will most definitely be able to make the trek down there! My trip down to Seattle over the weekend, which neatly serves as a midway point for me, went over very smoothly, and I was able to crank out some pretty impressive MPG's... for a gasser, of course!

Kyle, so long as you keep it at 60 or slower, it'll do really good. In my family's little hatchback, I keep it between 57-63 in 60MPH zones. I can easily crank out 40MPG if I am careful. I can also be pretty aggressive from stoplights and on-ramps so long as the overall result is a little slower... but what kinda MPGs were you getting?
