4JB1-T in Florida out of a rodeo

Postby Fulcrumwoodwork » Sun Jan 14, 2018 3:03 pm

Hey all, I am going to get on this 4JB1 tip asap. I was doing some googling and found this. I don't know anything about the company, I just thought someone might want to jump on it. $2300 with trans, already in the US. I'm out west and am not quite ready to purchase. Keep in mind that a lot of people like the 4jb1-tc. This is a 4JB1T. The difference is mainly the gearing I believe. Who knows about mileage..

Additionally, what are all the companies in the US that you have stumbled upon that get these in? How about suggested exporters in Japan?

Thanks, best of luck.

Ahh I may be wrong. The photo shows a transmission but not sure if it is included?

It says it comes with a transmission. Regardless, the likely difference in part numbers is this: 4JB1 is the engine, T is turbocharged, C is cooler. That engine pictured does not appear to have an intercooler. My familiarity with this is that I have a 4JG2 with turbo and intercooler. The 4JG2 is the newer engine, though slightly less fuel efficient.

In your neck of the woods, you can find them relatively available in Canada. I would avoid the automatic and the only thing that matters for manuals is the diesel bell housing. You can swap the bell housing to any MUA-5 that you want so the transmissions are readily available here. If you don't get the diesel bell housing with your engine, it is going to be much harder to find than the engine.

I was in Oregon when I got my 4JG2, though it was part of a group buy from Europe.

4jb1t is a great engine! I've been driving them for years in australia. I'm bringing in a number of them when I move back to the us in a few months. I hope to bring in a couple 4jh1t as well as I can convert them to full mechanical with a 4jb1t injector pump. All australian models were dry sleeve gear driven.

We have a skid steer called a "Hydra-Mac" that has a 4JB1 N/A in it. Manufacturer out of biz, and it's a shame.
That thing is massively stronger than BOTH of our late model Bobcats!
Unskilled, uneducated, inexperienced, tools/facilities lacking, and faint of heart, be warned:
All vehicles are hunks of crap. Designed by individuals, the majority of which, have never turned a wrench.
Which one do you want to fall in love with?
