TRANS ADAPTOR

Post by bthood »

HEY EVERYONE!
I WAS WONDERING, I REALLY WANT 4WD IN MY TRANSPLANT VEHICLE. I KNOW TRANS ADAPTORS CAN BE MADE. I WONDER IF I USED AN ADAPTOR I COULD USE THE STOCK 4X4 SYSTEM FROM A FORD AND LIMIT THE LEVEL OF NEED MODIFICATIONS. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHOM COULD MAKE AN ADAPTOR TO FIT A 2.2 DIESEL ONTO A FORD 5 SPD MANUAL TRANS? this transplant is going into a 2005 Ford sport trac ( 4dr ranger)? Any suggestions?

Divorced transfer case from an older jeep and use the isuzu transmission. Just a thought. Also the backing plate on the c223 is about 1/8" thick you could pattern one out of 1/4" steel.

Nissan trucks (Datsun I think) also ran a divorced small transfer case.

Wouldn't I have to use a small case like from a 4 or 6 cll or would a case from a v8 be too big? Im running a 2.2 diesel from a 83 luv.

the backing plate would be easier bolted to your trans.

the machine bolts will be flush against the engine block creating a stud bolt to mount your trans and c223 backing plate is plenty strong enough to mount your starter. make sure to install 2 dowels in the correct position on your ford bell through the backing plate, and if a bolt hole or two happens to line up use them. also you may have to have a pilot bushing custom made

one more thing, use the clutch disc from the ford and the pressure plate from the c223, personally i would check the clearance between the oil pan and the front diff housing first thing. my .02 worth.
