Nissans and Isuzus

Post by Lord Les »

Is there any crossover between Nissan little trucks and our Isuzu P'ups? My friend has a really nice condition Nissan truck that he might sell because of the enging. I am specifically wondering if the diesel will swap.

Just about any engine can be swapped if your determined enough. Sometimes you will have to swap both the engine and transmission in order to get it done and then have the driveshaft matched to the transmissions yoke.

And if you do swap the engine and transmission, and if it is 4wd...this problem:

Yes indeed when you get involved in engine swaps there will be project creep and the need for customization.

Some may go the machine shop route to have a bell housing to engine adapter plate made up so they could mate the Nissan Transmission to the Isuzu engine along with match up the pilot bearing.

If the speedometer is driven from the transmission on the Nissan that can add another issue using the Isuzu transmission since the ratios may be very different depending on what vehicle it was originally setup for.
