excessive vibration

Postby xomojo » Mon Feb 26, 2018 12:51 am

Particularly on decel and at idle..
I recently improved it some by changing plugs, cap rotor and cleaning throttle body, but I detect a hint of it still there.. I also checked compression thinking i had a bad cylinder 144, 147, 157, 167.. Valves recently adjusted, cooling system clean, has run smoothly for 292k miles but just doesn't seem herself and I'm not sure why.. It happened very abruptly on a drive one night, not gradual.. Fine one minute boom vibrating crap box the next.. eventually it seemed to go away when accelerating..
Recent tranny replacement and new alternator.. No leaking vacuum lines that I can find.. Probably due for an o2 sensor..
Any ideas would be helpful

double check the pressure plate bolts maybe to see if they're all there and snug. Look for a bad fan belt? Chunk missing? Check universal joints.

scratch u-joints if it's doing it at idle.
