Are these 5spd MSG gearboxes really that rare? I've got access to a few of them over here in australia and could round them up if the price was right. We're shipping a container back to the states in about 10 months so it won't help OGC. What would people be willing to pay for a good diesel MSG 5spd 4wd box? I've also got lots of MUA diesel 5speed 4wd boxes here too. Not sure if they would work in this scenario.

So did you get the transmission issue sorted out? This is your truck, right?

Hey Jack just noticing the reply here. Some reason I'm not notified when someone replies to a thread I start.. I'll look into settings a bit further.
I ended up finding a trans shop that had good guts from a trooper, he rebuilt it and reused my bellhouseing. Ran good for a few weeks, before losing complete compression in cylinder 4..
It's been challenging to say the least.
I'm currently rebuilding the engine now. When I had it listed on craigslist it was running good with the new trans.. atleast it felt like it was, a bit loud tho.. was told it sounded normal for an old diesel.. I believed that until I heard Paul Moyer's pup! Boy that that's one whispering beauty. Mr Moyer's been helping me a lot thru this process, great guy!
Anyhow that's sort of the gist of it
I'll post some progress shots when I get there
Thanks for wondering Jack
