i have a 90' 2wd shortbed gasser pup thats frame isnt looking to good and motor and tranny are great. i have been driving the gasser half way across iowa every 2-3 weeks, im just afraid that the frame will give out one of these days. i also have a 84' 2wd long bed diesel pup which the body is junk but motor, tranny, and frame are good. i was wondering how hard of a job it would be to put the gasser cab onto the diesel frame and use the diesel motor and then just put a flatbed on the back? would the diesel motor bolt up to the gasser cab? does the gasser cab fit onto the diesels frame? thanks Brett

Hello,
To be honest with you there is no difference between the cabs. It doesn't matter what engine & trans combo you choose to use the cab doesn't care. The only 2 things that you will need to switch from 1 cab to the other is the wiring harness & fuel delivery lines. Other than that it's all the same unless 1 cab is a 4x4 or a spacecab & the other isn't. Then a hole has to be created in the floor board for the 4x4 shifter, but that doesn't apply to you I think. Hope this helps.
Mike.

Mike, did you notice that one is a '90 Pickup, not a P'up? I'd be surprised if the cabs are interchangeable.

So I would have to drill new holes for the cab or could I even do that? Thanks

Nobody has said if they're at all compatible yet. Mike read where

and missed the model year. You have a '90 Pickup. That distinction may not be important in everyday conversation, but when talking about what's interchangeable, it's very important. While the Pickup shares SOME components with the P'up, it is a different vehicle overall. There could be other factors that are important besides mounting location. For instance, the length between the back of the cab and the wheel centers. You need the fenders centered above the wheels, but is there enough room on the frame to do that? (I don't know). Also, we need to know if the track width is roughly the same. Etc., etc., etc.
