I put power steering on a luv 4 wheel drive

Post by Purist »

I had a 1980 luv 4 wheel drive. I went to the salvage yard and found a 4 by 4 Isuzu pup diesel. I bought the power steering system off the pup and put it on my l u v.

There's a BUNCH of parts on that engine that many of the people would need sooner or later.
Like:
RADIATOR even if it looks leaky but not smashed badly. Those are obsolete.

Oil filter cooler housing. Save the bolts

(A big one!): The thermostat housing... entire housing that bolts to the front of the head

Alternator w the vacuum pump

AC brackets and idler pulleys w brackets if there

Injectors, injector pump, steel lines, and the vibration insulators that hold them together

Fuel filter housing

Fuel cap (has three prongs on it)

Glow system controller on drivers side above hood release. Black box

Pull the valve cover and remove the rocker assembly. Buy it, and save bolts & every push rod also.

Grab the heater core if it looks okay and especially if it's made of metal!. Some der Luvs g pups had metal cores that can be fixed. They're +$300 new and getting harder to find.

Pull the drive shaft and get the slip yoke from it that slides into the transmission. Or get the whole driveshaft if not too much more. The slip yoke is essential for doing the 5 speed upgrade on the diesel 2wd.

Sun visors

Locking 4x4 hubs on the front if you have time and $
The exhaust manifold might also be worth something to someone too.

Probably more things I can't think of now
