2.3L Rebuild Pistons and Crank Question

Postby korbin22 » Sat Jul 07, 2018 5:37 pm

I am trying to put in bigger piston. I have the motor apart and have confirmed that i rolled a bearing. Now I have looked for bigger pistons and an oversized .040 pistons doesnt seem like much of an increase. From what I have read the 2.3L is 89.3 mm and the 2.6 is 92.6mm. Can I just put standard 2.6L pistons on it?

My second question is can I put them on the 2.3L crank. If possible would it be worth it to use a 2.6L crank?

NO to all you asked.
-.040"/1mm is the maximum overbore for the 2.3 block. Anything more & you risk boring into the water jackets.
The 2.6 is a larger version of the 2.3, internal parts don't interchange, external parts usually will. You can't use 2.6 pistons on a 2.3 crank(the block won't bore enough & the wrist pin's in the wrong place) nor can you use the 2.6 crank(different deck height for sure & I think different bearing journal size).
