AC belt interfers with lower radiator hose

Postby reidspup » Sun Jun 01, 2014 6:52 pm

My AC belt rubs against my lower radiator hose unless I tie it back with some string or wire. On rock auto it shows lower radiator hoses for trucks with out AC and none for trucks with AC. I am not sure there is a difference. It seems like a stupid question but why can't I fit the hose and belt without interference? My AC doesn't work, I don't need it where I live, and it makes working on the engine much more difficult so I might just remove it anyway. I would be interested in the pulley which replaces the AC unit if anyone has it. Thanks Reid

On your timing cover there should be a little hose clamp/bracket to pull the hose back.
It's not pronounced "Ih-soo-zoo", it's pronounced "It-screws-you"

Reid
If it is an aftermarket lower radiator hose, then most likely it is for a non AC truck and is formed a bit different. The only place I have been successful locating the proper hose is from our faithful friend JLemond. Napa part #7777 is the hose the book calls for and it will not work on an AC truck, or for that matter a truck with the PS idler pulley either.

I ran a generic accordion type hose on mine. Looks crappy but works fine.
