Hi everyone!! I have an 81 isuzu pup that burns oil. I dont see any oil spots on the ground so I dont think its leaking. I also have black and sometimes blue exhaust. I would like to take it to the shop to get fixed but I would like to know whats wrong with it first if any of you have ideas that would be great. Thanks for reading my post.

You should post an introduction and add your location to your profile. Make sure the truck is not overfilled with oil. How many miles on it? How much is it burning? How long have you owned it? .....

She's in somewhere in Washington state, but yes--she needs to post an intro and update her location, and answering the other questions would help.

If you are burning a quart of oil every fifty miles and not leaking much then I would suspect that someone did not take proper care of the engine at some point in it's life. A compression test will tell you a lot more about the internals of your motor. What kind of mileage are you getting? Also is it a shortbed or a longbed? 4x4, 5 speed, 4 speed? A 4x4 with that kind of mileage would not surprise me being tired and ready for rebuild.

If it is burning a qt. every 50 miles there would be alot of smoke. When it is running see if it is leaking oil from the small hose behind the alternater.

I can only speculate as to what your truck needs. When you talk about your truck smoking alot, is it blue smoke or black? Like what Pupfocused said, there should be a lot of smoke. Are you certain there is only minor leaking?
