Operating temperature for Isuzu 4FB1 diesel

Postby fiatspider » Thu Jan 19, 2012 1:52 pm

Anyone know the normal operating temperature ofthe 4FB1 engine (from the mid 80's Chevettes, Pups, etc.)? I have this engine installed as a retrofit in a '77 Fiat Spider, but the electric radiator fan is not turning until after the dash gauge reads approx. 200 degrees. Just wondering if this is normal, or if the fan should be kicking in earlier. What would be considered an excessive temperature for this engine? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks
