I have a new oil cooler thermostate compliments of Yoda Jerry.
There is an arrow on it but I'm not sure which way the arrow should point when installed. Toward the ground or the sky?
Thanks in advance.

Never heard of an oil cooler thermostat. Amazing what you learn on the pup site.

Follow the heater hose from the oil cooler to the top rear of the engine. The thermostat is mounted to a bracket on the head. Eric, I believe the arrow should point to the oil cooler.

I have a cooler thermostat too. Is the direction of the arrow confirmed. What about no arrow? Which side and way then?

I'll take a look at mine this evening. I put it in witht he arrow facing down toward the oil coler per Jerry's instruction. I "think" there is a lip on the t-stat and maybe that will help position it correctly if you can't see an arrow on it.

You want the arrow to point up "towards the sky" as that arrow goes with the direction of the coolant flow. Pressurized coolant flows from the head, through the cooler past the thermostat device and back to the water pump.

THAT IS CORRECT THE ARROW SHOULD BE POINTING UP ,NOT TOWARDS THE COOLER , I HAD IT BACKWARDS , THANKS STEVE

Good information....I always thought that the coolant traveled from the heater core return T then into the oil cooler thermostat, then into the oil cooler, then to the engine head. I had it backwards..not too uncommon an occurrence
All I know is that I removed it years ago thinking it was restricting flow somehow to my heater core (which was an Advance Auto replacement...defective since new...froze to death for many Winters before I replaced it) Once I determined the device was an inline thermostat, not clogged check valve, I reinstalled it the same way it came off. I did check its operation by connecting a piece of scrap heater hose, dropping the thermostat into one of the wife's kitchen pots with boiling water, and blowing through it seeing if it opened up. It was fine, so I reinstalled it.
