A few weeks ago when I pulled my trans it helps if you have someone on the top while you're down below both prying. make sure that tail mount is completely removed.

I agree with this. When I got to this point with mine I had a hard time breaking it loose as well. I ended up getting it apart by working it slowly to get a thin gap on top. I wedged a pry bar into the thin gap on top and then I put a wrench on my pry bar to turn it. It popped right out. I would definitely recommend drilling the hole in the bell housing like Andy said, it makes the process so much easier going back in.
