Re: Vacuum during brake bleeding?

Try some speed bleeders, available at any auto parts store. They replace your bleed valve. Just crack the valve open and slowly depress the brake pedal with your hand 2 or 3 times and close the valve. I use a clear plastic tube into an old water bottle and pump until there are no bubbles in the tube...

Re: Computer?

When I bought my 93, the salesman and I opened the hood of about 40 short bed pickups looking for one that had power steering, all 2.3. Every one of them had a carb. The EPA lists a 2.6 and even a 3.1 6 cyl for that year. I've never seen a 3.1 and only one F.I. and it was a 2.6. Must have sent all t...

Have someone push the throttle to the floor while you look down the carb to make sure the butterfly is opening all the way.

Re: Tachometer

The blue wire on the left with the wire that runs to the bottom left corner of the picture spliced to it. There's an easy way to be sure you have the right wire before you go cutting and splicing. Use pliers to push a straight pin through the wire and connect to that. If it happens to be the wrong w...

Re: Choke issues I think

My secondary comes open pretty early. Like at about 15 or 20 MPH in 2nd gear and that's pushing the throttle half way or a little more. I can feel it and hear it when it opens. Sounds just like the quadrajet on my old 77 buick, just not as loud but as soon as I let off, it closes. Never noticed it o...

Re: Top Speed

Whaaaat? Then this is NOT a gear ratio issue. You should be able to redline the engine in 4th. If you're bogged down at 60 in 4th, something is wrong with the engine performance. I suspect with standard tires, you should be able to go at least 75 in 4th, and limited only by engine RPM. Jack Mine ea...

Re: Top Speed

Still in the process of figuring out how to get a tachometer on there so as of right now I dont know exactly what the rpm is. I know it not redlining though because the motor isnt screaming at me like it will through 1-4 if I push it This splice is the wire that I connect my hand held tach/dwell me...

Re: 93 2.3 diverter valve

Wow, that's quite a melt down. I've tried to keep my truck as stock as possible. However if there are no emissions concerns, I believe several people on here have eliminated that system completely. Maybe one of them can give you the information to do that. One last thing, is the air pump pumping? I'...

Re: 93 2.3 diverter valve

On further research it is also called an air switching valve. There is also a check valve between the diverter valve and the exhaust manifold. Possibly a bad one could allow heat to travel from the exhaust to the diverter valve?

Re: 93 2.3 diverter valve

IMG_1595.JPG Do you mean this thing? I thought mine was the only truck that still had it. Pricey little devil isn't it? All I know is it routes the air from that antipollution pump into the exhaust or diverts it out that open hole. I don't see how it could "burn up". There's no heat there...

A city the size of San Diego should have a shop that specializes in AC. They should have it or tell you where you can get it.

Great idea zenapup. It never occurred to me. I'm always working on a system on the vehicle.
