Re: Diesel oil with no or little blach coloration in the en

Soot in the oil is really no worry, but if you want more filtration google "frantz bypass filter" or "centrifugal oil bypass filter" These can catch the wear particles smaller than your main oil filters micron rating. I don't use either just change my oil b/t 3 and 4k miles. I h...

Hey Jack! Let me help you: http://tinyurl.com/5vuvusm Riley...a bsd kinda guy! ;-) lol. That is funny on multiple levels; not the least of which is taunting the moderator. :-) Yes. And I apologized to Jack! After the fact.  Jack knows how easy it is to find a public source, but long quo...

Thanks.

Yes. It's called a diesel hybrid, much more efficient than gas.

Re: Schematic of IP

Brewer, There's at least one howto on CSDs--like Eric, I have no experience. http://www.isuzupup.com/viewforum.php?f=36 Come to think of it, there may very well be an IP schematic there, too. I know there's pix. I'll echo him on the inline filter. I try to use a clear one, like the $4 Fram G3. Somet...

Thanks for the link Dog--looks interesting. Did you buy a complete kit or build your own? Either way sound like you're pretty satisfied with it.

Re: Flooded diesel

I don't think you have nearly the power you need with that electric--think of the starter motor drive gear compared to the flywheel gear. 30 to 1??? Have no idea but it's a lot.

Re: N\W Oregon area meet

Sadly I'm going to have to pass on the meet, too. Would love to make it, but Mary laid down the law: Russian River Jazz & Blues Festival (9/23&24) or the Pup Meet! Festival won! If both events were on adjacent weekends might be a different story, but not sure we'd have the time to drive up t...

Manual says 60k--but with a truck that old and you don't know its history, change it!

Gary,

That's really an impressive system! I'd love to see your presentation if I can make it to the meet, which isn't looking too likely at the moment!

The truck looks very nice, too. Wonderful workmanship.

Re: 2.5 TD 4JA1 losing power, could it be the timing belt?

I blend wvo about 50-50 in the summer, and maybe 10% wvo in the winter. Don't drive it a lot, but have had no issues with it. From what I've read, recently here, in the summer up to 75% wvo is ok. But, again from reading, I wouldn't go 90% wvo without heating.

fwiw,

This might help you. Not sure. A quick look in the how-to section turned it up.

Re: Burning oil in 82 Diesel pup

As Eric/Kravdraa said: compression test. (Eric, don't think timing would cause that kind of oil consumption, just smoke...) If compression is low (under 390??? not sure), squirt some engine oil into the cylinder and then test again. If the compression goes up, it's your rings, if it stays the same, ...
