Re: ecotec v6 engine swap (ecotec holden v6 conversion)

Re: ecotec v6 engine swap (ecotec holden v6 conversion)

Update: I have the engine and gearbox, few other goodies like the wiring harness, computer, thermo fan, speedo kit, efi external fuel pump, exhaust system. 140,000Kms apparently. Never driving 3.5hrs each way in a car with no air-con & a gas releasing dog next to me in a heatwave again. We used ...

Re: ecotec v6 engine swap (ecotec holden v6 conversion)

So I've got the kit. Would be greatly disappointed if I paid full price tbh. Wiring is definitely worth it but the rest I could have easily fabricated. So next step is to pick up my t5 manual gearbox next weekend. In the meantime it's rust repair time. Also just a quick question, does anyone know if...

ecotec v6 engine swap (ecotec holden v6 conversion)

So this weekend I'm going to be picking up my new engine swap kit :D . Brand new, and includes all bar the engine & gearbox, radiator, hoses etc, required to do the swap. The new engine will be a 3.8ltr v6 ecotec from a holden vs commodore & matching T5 5spd manual gearbox. Very similar to t...

Re: What do you guys put in your radiators?

Valvoline G-05 anti freeze anti boil and demineralised water. Keeps it running cool, stops it from freezing & reduces the engine putty I've gone to the trouble of cleaning out of the coolant passages. All that putty looking crud has to go somewhere & that's the sort of crap that will restric...

Re: torsion bars

Yea I did a bit more research & from that I gather that the TF & KB are interchangeable but the RA used a different bar. Thanks oldest

Re: Where's the horn relay?

If it's not a fuse & your horn is still good it may be the indicator stalk assembly that sits on the steering column. Mine had one of the green wires come off the back of the sprung contact that slides on the back of the steering wheel. Green with a brown stripe from memory

Re: Heres your sign..... Maybe, maybe not.

Bendix brake cleaners good stuff. I'll vouch for that. Was put onto it by a mech mate. Bit hard to access it tho in a small town with the nearest supercheap an hour away tho, so I guess its poor mans degreaser for my engine clean/paint. I had a mini once that was so full of spiders I let a mortein b...

torsion bars

Anyone know if torsion bars are able to be used across the different models? My brother has a spare set from his RA I'm thinking of using in my kb if they fit as I intend on dropping the height & these spare bars are stiffer

Re: Heres your sign..... Maybe, maybe not.

Sweet. Didn't know you could do that. I just replaced it with a weber carb. Solvents and degreasers etc is crap. I find going to the cheapo $2 stores sometimes yields the good products. Probably because they're not meant to be sold perhaps haha. Note is don't use oven cleaner...it makes alloy carbs ...

Re: Heres your sign..... Maybe, maybe not.

Flea bay had some locking fuel caps I noticed that suit the tray back filler for around the $30 mark for a tridon brand. Refer to this helpful thread http://www.isuzupup.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=20994 where zenapup has put approx lengths of fuel hose. Half of mine arrived o...
