Identify this?

I was looking at my dash and pulled this out. I'm guessing it is the old stereo hookup? Or mono hookup?

Re: Trailer wiring harness

I borrowed an induction tester, but even though the turn signal is on, it isn't detecting anything. I bought a wire harness from Harbor Freight for 8 bucks. It has the trailer and vehicle wires with the 4 flat connector. And it has quick connect splice which is as simple as it gets. I have the origi...

Trailer wiring harness

I'm putting in a wiring harness for a trailer. Used some oven cleaner to clean the wires for my photo. I'm using a four wire harness, and I'm wondering which wire is for what. I mean, on the truck, not the harness. Sorry if this is stickied somewhere. Hope you like my photo. Looks to me like red, bl...

Mechanic wanted: Bellingham Wa

I see there is a thread listing mechanics by state, but nobody is mentioned very close to me. I'm looking for a mechanic to track down some of the little things wrong: A lot of the lights on my dash are lit up, but then again they always have been. Voltage light is on though the voltage meter looks ...

Re: My new problem

But here this guy says the drop down resistor (ddr) normally gets hot. Here is what I think and I need someone to tell me where I'm wrong. The drop down resistor turns on to heat the glow plugs when you want to start the engine. Since the engine hasn't turned over yet, there isn't any heat to start ...

So did you get the 1.5 or the 2.0?

Re: My new problem

So I'm guessing the glow plug drop down resistor is doing something bad? Why would it be over heating? I'm not going to drive my pup till I figure this out because I'm guessing I could burn out my glow plugs. Is it "rebuildable"?

Re: My new problem

Is there another name for this other than drop down resistor?

My new problem

Ok so I got my pup started and let it idle for a while. Then I noticed just a little smoke coming up from the engine, and I remember I have to replace a hose. But the temp gauge is still well below 50% and the radiator cap is cool to the touch. So I'm feeling around and there is a lot of heat coming...

Re: Won't turn over after belt replacement

Ok, I got the battery checked out, and I even used it on another car to help a friend out. Works great. So then I read here or somewhere that if you bang on the starter sometimes that will get it going. So I got my golf putter and whacked it a bunch of times and it started up! Now I can get started ...

Re: Won't turn over after belt replacement

Ok, yes update. Sorry for taking so long, but that is actually how long it takes me to do anything. I took the battery in and had it checked out, and it is great. And what happens is I get ONE click when I try to turn the truck on. Not sure if that helps, but there ya go. And point taken about fixin...

Re: Won't turn over after belt replacement

I'll double check the alternator belt again tomorrow.

And miracles of miracles, I did a solenoid on a 1979 Toyota Supra back in '82-83.

Thanks for the reponses. Helps keep me motivated.

Re: Won't turn over after belt replacement

Update The battery tested at 12.32 volts after sitting for about a week. And I don't see any "bad connections". And I noticed that there is a klunk when I turn the key to on and a klunk when I turn off the key. Like something is engaging and staying engaged until I turn the key to the off ...
