Re: 86 Turbo Diesel - swapped alternator - still low voltage

Have you driven the rig and got the "rpm's" up on it for awhile. Sometime that's what you have to do, especially if its been sitting for awhile. So take it out and try that before jumping to expensive conclusions. badd Jerry

Re: Need advice tire size

You have 58hp with 373 rearend which translates into a SLUG. 5th gear useless on steep hills and 4th gear 1to1 not much better. Nothing over 195/ r 75 /15. Any thing over that you'll be sorry. My opinion is just that. It came with 185/75/14 for a reason. badd Jerry

Re: Preparing for Paint

My condolences Jack. Getting that rubber off the truck ain't much fun. Razor ice scraper and eraser for your drill worked for me. I guess you realize that someday you'll see one restored selling for $40,000 on Barret-Jackson. hehehehe bad Jerry

Great outcome Henle. I have mentioned this before but those diesel emblems/decals are a sure way of attracting thieves.

Re: '86 Spacecab Turbo Diesel - Milage I should expect?

All us Isuzu dsl owners have to wonder how many would there be around if Isuzu and GM had kissed and made up and continued production? UBER would have been born in the 80s. And Silverdale is a beautiful place. How could you return to Dallas. Ye old saying, How you gonna keep-em down on the farm afte...

Re: '86 Spacecab Turbo Diesel - Milage I should expect?

Believe it or not any extra weight when driving these under powered rigs makes a big difference in mileage especially on steep hills. The road to my house 35mph in 3rd gear or with another passenger 20-25 in 2nd gear screaming for half a mile. My apology to your wife if I offended her but I didn't m...

Re: '86 Spacecab Turbo Diesel - Milage I should expect?

I presume with two wheel drive 5sp and stock tires, or close, you have 373 gears. My same truck, long box, will get 42@ 60mph but quickly drops to 35 at 70mph. Bottom line keep your foot out of it and anticipate braking shifting accelerating and maybe get your wife into a diet program. hehehehehe ba...
