If you end up rebuilding the tranny, you can put comparable synthetic motor oil in there. That's what I did, works great... I believe it's what Jerry does also...it's apparently a little cooler, easier on the gears.

Guess where!

This is an Isuzu with a missing badge. They are very common in this place.

Also spotted, but not pictured: An imported US 82-ish gasser (I think), a modern Isuzu pickup police cruiser, an Isuzu jumbo size party bus, and general/misc. Isuzu things that I don't know how to classify

Hey dudes, dudettes.

Currently rolling around Mexico; Yucatan, Campeche, and Chiapas areas.

One thing iv'e noticed: Small extra cab trucks under every auto company are a SMASH HIT in mexico.
Pictured below are some examples, including a luv!

Mojave road truck trail

Anyone done this truck trail?

I am on vacation and preparing to take the taco out on this 160 mile 4x4 historical route through the Mojave desert. As I was flipping through the guidebook there was this awesome picture of a luv stuck in the sand!

Re: Draft tube info request

I have had semi-considerable blow-by from the draft tube for its entire life under my care, which is about 4 years? It averages 30mpg. All good. The only thing I remember inside the draft tube is an internal drain plate. Looks kinda like the side of a cheese grader. Nothing to be done with it, unles...

Re: Air out the valve cover seal

After many months of the pup sitting and putting only around the ranch, I recently managed to get a couple days out of work to take a trip up to Oregon for some pup diagnosis with Mark (Arrowmountiandiesel) We worked all day, corrected the issue (which we think was due to micro-malformalities in the...

Re: P'ups - a Vanishing Breed

I hear that. I once pulled out of my private road back in San Diego to find a civic half blocking a busy road (which I learned had a bad automatic transmission) being chained up to a 86 pup to be towed to safety. it was nice to see a pup owner helping folks out. Only one iv'e ever seen on the road d...

Re: P'ups - a Vanishing Breed

Other than having parts be difficult to source sometimes, I enjoy the scarcity of the pup. It makes me appreciate them even more. If other car guys are anything like me, it's exciting to see something unique rolling down the street, pup or not. Folks from my generation don't even remember them like-...
