Welcome, Sean. You didn't mention diesel or turbo, so I'm gonna just speculate that you have a 2.3 gas truck.
I wish they'd had a SpaceCab in '83, when I bought mine.

Re: Lost Brake Boost
It's all back together, finally. If you've ever replaced a vacuum pump, you know that the hub slips around inside the casing, and its center hole does not stay aligned with the hole in the case, unless you hold it there somehow. And if you put it on while disassembled (backplate, then hub, then cove...

Re: Aftermarket radio install
Seems the biggest issue is where the old shafts went through. I cut a DIN sized hole right through those. Then a plastic spacer plate mounted behind the new radio faceplate made it presentable.

Re: Trying to follow links to diagnositcs of glow plug issue but am confused
Brook, I'm not able to give you a detailed answer -- responding via iPhone just wears me out. :( And I'm really not familiar with how things work with an automatic transmission. But you said you don't have a schematic, and it sounds like you'd know what to do with one. There's one for an '83 model h...

Re: Lost Brake Boost
I have a hunch about where this trouble began. Several years ago, my oil line (from the block to the vacuum pump) cracked. Although the engine never ran out of oil, I suspect the vacuum pump got starved pretty badly. So I imagine that's when the pump got really hard to turn, and damaged the shaft an...

Re: Steering wheel removal
I've pulled several from P'ups and Troopers at the salvage yards. Sometimes I'd struggle with one for 15 minutes, take quick rest, and then lift it off so easily I almost smash my face with it. I concluded that you have to sneak up on them! But seriously, I think some jarring (like with a rubb...

Re: Lost Brake Boost
Ok, I can confirm, the alternator did NOT come with a vacuum pump http://www.isuzupup.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=19116&start=45#p124438 So this one was probably my original. If I recall correctly, the original alternator had stripped its shaft splines almost smooth, so the hub would have also ...

Re: Lost Brake Boost
1,500 miles is a very short time for it to strip out like that in the absence of something being stuck or horrifically out of balance. Does the shaft have any wobble to it or possibly some lateral thrust that was causing it to saw in and out of the splines? You're losing me here. I had the engine o...

Re: Lost Brake Boost
You must have had the belt pretty tight for it to strip the splines instead of having the belt just slip and burn. Were all the paddles inside the pump intact and how are the bearings on the alternator? I don't think the belt was unusually tight. I haven't touched it since I got the rebuild done by...

Re: 1986 Pup with Space Cab available
Good afternoon, We have a 1986 Isuzu Pub with space cab available. It belong to an Uncle who recently passed away. It is in Miami, Fl. Would like for an enthusiast to have it, rather than the junk yard. It has a fuel injection issue, but for the most part is in ok condition. Moon roof will need wor...
