Re: Need help with wiring

Can't do this from a phone. If you don't have answers by the next time I'm on my laptop, I'll see what I can do.

You know there's a 1983 P'up wiring schematic in the How-to section, right?

Re: Needed a pickup, live in the city, so, pup.

Welcome to the site. We don't have too many members in the DC area. As for the topper, please list it (with pics) in the "Parts" section. The accessory aftermarket has pretty much dried up, at least for stuff that only fits P'ups. I have not heard of any other long bed with the same dimens...

Have you considered using liners?

Re: First Diesel swap

Welcome aboard, Tom. Quite a few people have done 4FB1 swaps using the Tracker and Samurai. There was once even an adapter kit available from ACME Adapters. I don't know if they still offer it, though. But if the engine was from an S10 and was a factory diesel, (like Andy said) it's got to be a C223...

This is one of the few forums that does not allow image uploading so without an image hosting account I am unable to even post an old picture since I do not support cloud or other image/file sharing schemes especially if a fee is required. We are strictly against the use of image hosting accounts o...

Re: What terms in ads really mean

"Serious inquires only" / "serious buyers only" always gets me. They usually don't post enough info for anybody to even determine if they're serious. Like "Email for price. Serious buyers only."

Re: Rear End Slips

Jim,

Sorry, I should have said this earlier. If you happen to Google for help with this -- please use "axle". Looks like your phone is consistently changing it to "axial". Otherwise, your search results may be unpredictable. ;)

Re: Rear End Slips

Halden, lugging should have no effect on the differential unless the lugging causes it to buck violently.

And I think we're all puzzled at the lack of noise preceding this failure. My first one got annoyingly loud before I replaced it.

Welcome to the site, Jay. Central Florida is one of my favorite places. I grew up in Orlando. My wife and I have made a few visits to ride bike trails in the area.

Re: 4JB1 Engine BellHousing & Compatibility

We had a member who installed a 4JB1-T, but it was a JDM import with the transmission that came with it -- the MUA-5, which is stronger than the MSG-5 mated to the C223-T. He had to do about 2" of body lift to accommodate the engine and transmission. That engine was never sold in a P'up -- not ...

Re: Rear End Slips

Jim, Since this isn't diesel-specific, I moved it to the "General" section. I've never heard of this. A more common point of failure would be a universal joint, but they usually get noisy -- and even more so after they break. ;) And I imagine you'd have seen that when turning the drive sha...

Bobby,

Welcome to the site. You probably know this already, but that's quite a rare truck.

Re: Northern Wisconsin PICKup

Hi, Randy.

If the engine came from a LUV, it's a C223 -- a 2.2L engine.

It's probably way overdue for a timing belt, unless you know when it was last changed.

Teener, is that the case regardless which side the starter is on?
