Re: Advice on fan thermostat

I'm no expert here, but it seems pointless to have the electric fan coming on before the thermostat opens. The 185º fan thermostat makes more sense to me. I don't know what the "200" means. It can't be both. Does that mean it comes on somewhere in that range?

Re: Starter motors and solenoids

Yes, if you can find one. We used to have one in town and I used them to rebuild my alternator. But the cheap Chinese imports (not specifically for Isuzu) have made it hard for those shops to stay in business. It's like trying to find a TV repair shop. Great idea, Paul. I may do that, thanks!

Re: Surely someone can tell me..

Sounds like you're referring to the EGR pipe. I had the same thing on my 2.6L Amigo.

Opinions seem to vary on removal. I won't wade into that discussion, since I'm a novice when it comes to gasoline engines.

I give up, but I don't know the gas engines. As far as I know, carb'ed would indicate a 2.3--but for all I know, the 3.1 may be carb'ed. Maybe someone else here will know how to diagnose.

The engine probably matters. Some are EFI, some are carb'ed.
