Motorweek - 1986 Compact Truck Comparison

I love watching these old Motorweek retro reviews!
This was a comparison of 5 extended cab compact pickups. Give it a watch to see how the P'up fairs against the competition!
... Maybe we're just a teeeny bit biased
Makes me miss my ol' Spacecab!

Re: Woke up to find my truck stolen...

Thanks for all the kind, and hilarious words guys! She's still in possession of the police, getting fingerprinted. Last I heard there was a possible suspect in custody. ICBC, the Provincial insurance company hasn't even had their hands on my truck either, so the future of my little P'up is in purgat...

Re: Woke up to find my truck stolen...

Well, the buggers didn't get far! I was receiving tips this evening and had many friends on the lookout for me. Tracked the guy down and I chased him with my car. The driver and the passenger ditched the car at an intersection, the passenger cowering into the bush and running, and the driver grabbin...

Woke up to find my truck stolen...

Welp, the title says it all! Just imagine a groggy-eyed me walking towards an empty parking spot, arm extended with my keys. Licence plate is EJ 9248 from British Columbia, insurance expiring next month. I'm located in Chilliwack, B.C. , but the border's nearby, so it might be worth it to have eyes ...

Re: Spotted a pair of '85 T/D Bighorns on the auction block

Oh man, I love that Nissan! Wagon WRC car?! That's the pinnacle of coolness. My thoughts exactly! 8) The first order of business will be to "dispose" of the summer tires currently fitted on it, and swap 'em for some aggressive snow and ice tires, maybe even get some studs fitted. In the w...

Re: Spotted a pair of '85 T/D Bighorns on the auction block

Cool, and that's odd about the 4ZD1 not being part of the lineup. To your dismay Halden, my "car" doesn't bestow the glorious Isuzu moniker  It's a car that I absolutely couldn't pass up, as it was a total steal of a deal. A 1999 Nissan Stagea RS Four S. What happens when you dump th...

Spotted a pair of '85 T/D Bighorns on the auction block

I've been cruising the Japanese used car auctions for a while now, and always check regularly the Isuzu's that go up for sale. Faster's are incredibly rare from what I've gathered, as I've only seen one up for sale, and it looked like it had a rough life as a commercial vehicle, nearly rusted throug...

Re: Back from Europe, and there were some interesting cars!

Sounds like a fun trip! How long were you out there for? I only just got back from Australia 2 weeks ago. That 2-week service technician job turned into 3 months out in the desert! The Aussies sure know how to make some slick diesel ute's! And those new Isuzu D-Max trucks look unbelievable! In Perth...

Those too, haha!
When I think Gemini, I think of that 4ZD1 turbo'd one that runs a 10 second quarter mile

Australia, here I come! (bit of an update)

Well it would seem that my current work has me moving down to Australia for a month 8) I'm working for IMW industries, which specialize in natural gas compression, pressure reduction, and fueling systems for industrial and public use. Perth is the first stop, where our builds have been sent off to, ...

Re: Higher output alternator

I'll have to double check the pulley, but I think it may be the same as the original.
I did have to change up the idle screw a little bit, no real method to it, just by feel, so with the alt engaged, she holds a strong idle at 750 rpm. With the alt disengaged after ignition, it idles at 1000 rpm.

Re: Higher output alternator

Have you got a gasser? I had taken mine to an autoelectric shop originally to repair the stock 40 amp alternator, as the voltage regulator had died, and would shoot up way past 18 volts as I revved the engine. (basically limiting my top speed to 35 mph if I wanted to listen to the radio before it cu...

Re: 1981 mikado followed me home

Haha! That I do. Floor it and dump the clutch on people who tailgate me. Last June, Paul told me I was bad press for diesel doing that haha I can attest to that Halden! But getting smoked out while giving chase in a gasser just makes me want a diesel even more! ... To get my revenge ...

^ I second that! Someone on here has got to have the photoshop skills to make it happen! And if anyone is interested in reprints, I could have the poster photocopied and offered through redbubble.com Then the image can be offered on multiple sizes of posters, aluminum plate prints, canvas, t-shirts,...

Ended up being $30 to ship to Canada, which is funny considering it is coming from the States. I hope she's packed up nice and safe for the journey North
