Re: Truck update!

My truck had the stock size tire for the 4wd, 235/85/15 if I remember right. I promise I'll put some new stuff up soon. I pulled the ol' LUV out of the barn last week to spiffy it up as well. My Volkswagen has been hogging my attention for the past 4 years, so I've been plugging away at both trucks ...

Re: Truck update!

Geez, I still have this thing. My tailpipe fell off a couple of weeks ago. Muffler is super toast. Going to oreder a 50 series and quiet it down. I'm not 16 anymore.... I will eventually put some newer pictures up, just because. This little truck has definitely come a long ways from what it w...

Canopy/topper fitment

Dang it's been a while hasn't it? I've been in the market for a decent fiberglass canopy for a while now, but I'm having trouble finding a good fit for my 6' foot bed, 89 pickup. Anyone have good experiences with canopy/toppers off of different makes of small pickup? The last one I tried w...

Re: what I did today

Valve cover is done! Got my pcv system hooked back up the way it's supposed to be too, no more oil leaks  Time for an oil change, check the timing, and tune the carb a bit. She's good to go

Re: Was a limited slip ever available?

They were an option, if I remember right they were mostly in the cars, geminis or I-marks. No parts are available for the smaller 10 bolt LSD anymore though, last time I asked Jerry he only had a housing. Definitely a rare thing in any p'up

C.V. Axle choices

Trying to figure out which cv axles i need for the ol' truck, it seems there are 2 varieties. I need to know where to find the stamp that says either "NTN" or "NSK" somewhere on the assembly. I looked all over the place and don't see anything. I'll go look some more, any help is ...

Re: Manual steering gear grease

GL-5 gear oil is differential lube. I was wondering about that. I remember a thread here somewhere about someone putting grease in it and they had to shoot it in with a syringe or something like that. I searched but that can be a hit or miss most of the time. My seals are definitely not in the best...

Manual steering gear grease

Finally got around to putting a new steering box in the luv machine, I would like to put some new grease in it but can't find any. My FSM says "no chassis grease" and to use GL-5 "steering gear grease". All the stores have are wheel bearing grease or white lithium. I don't even w...

Re: Hello from East Tennessee

WOOOOOOOO!    That's a purdy truck you got there! For the eng. compartment I use a degreaser called "Detsol HD" it's locally made here in Washington so I don't know how hard it would be to get in Tennessee, but it absolutely works wonders. I used it on a VW rab...

Re: Eliminate Smog pump and vapor canister?

You can, you will need the block off plate for the egr valve and plugs for the air rail where it threads into the head. Some people leave just the rail in, there is a check valve at the end that keeps exhaust from coming out, but a 14mm spark plug also works. Also be aware that the factory carbs are...

Re: Straight piping....

These guys are running diesels, they can be run without mufflers. In fact, I don't have any friends with diesel trucks that have mufflers around here
