Re: Replacement Radiator Found

Somewhere on this forum, is a post from me about a near drop in replacement. As Jerry said, above, you can move the fan back a tad. I did not and it works fine. Champion Radiator in Cal. has a three row aluminum radiator for a 70-73 Nissan 240Z that is as close to a drop in as you can get. Just have...

Re: Found - Pup Owner

i gave him the address AND he needs some help with his baby. Some of it he can do, which is where the Forum comes in. Some of it will need a local diesel motor guy. But then he may have to hit Jerry up for a part or two.

Either way, seems a nice guy and a good addition to the Forum.

Found - Pup Owner

I was visiting my local machine shop yesterday. As I walked out and fired up the Pup, a guy who was getting into his work truck, looked over, then walked over and comment on the Pup. Seems he has a 82 Pup diesel, which he dearly loves. As we talked, I told him about the group, which he had no idea e...

Re: Gear Shift

The truck is getting a new paint job, so will not be home for a couple of days. When it is, I will check the bolts and spring tension. Thanks

Re: Gear Shift

1984, diesel, 2wd and long bed. To clarify, I do not have a vibration (I know that is what I said) so much as the fact the gear shift does a shimmy at about 55mph. When I put my hand on the gear shift, I feel absolutely no shaking of the transmission. Its almost like a harmonic oscillation. Joe, I a...

Gear Shift

Truck runs like a top. But at about an indicated 55mph the gear shift vibrates a lot. Is there a gasket, shim, bushing that dampens that tendency? While the truck is an 84, the transmission is out of a 95Trooper. I have thought it might be the short shaft or the bearing on that shaft. However, if I ...

Re: New Paint Job

There is and its next to the hood latch, in front of the radiator. Unfortunately, mine had worn to the extent you could no longer read the code.

Re: New Paint Job

The problem is, there are three, at least, named colors for a beige 1984 Pup. IF you try to go by the VIN number, you get two, one metallic and one not. But you are right, it was the "old guy" at the automotive paint store that finally nailed things down for me. BUT he said having the Sher...

New Paint Job

My sweetheart has picked up some dents, dings and rust over the years and I decided to put the $2,400 my Uncle Sugar sent me toward getting the body work done. He must have checked with my body man, because that was almost the exact total for the body work. One of the reasons I had it done was the n...

Re: Glow Light - Quick On System Help Needed

IF your brain is anything like mine, that is precisely where the problem is. ;-) Seriously, I had so much trouble keeping my QOS working, I just stripped it out and put a manual system in. I have had absolutely no problems since. While I was at it, I also got rid of the fusible links and put auto sp...

It is, but because it is, its often the last place we look.

Glad you got it fixed.

Tail, turn and marker lights out

I switched the brake and tail lights out with some LED's and they worked fine. I then switched the turn signal lights and the marker lights out and now only the turn work, but does not flash. i have gone over the wiring diagram and cannot find the fuse anywhere. Does anyone know what and were it is....

Re: glow plugs not firing, is it the temp sensor?

I took the coward's way out and just scrapped everything in the circuit for the glow plugs and replaced all of it with a push to make switch on the dashboard (there is a blank spot just to the lower left of the steering column, on my 84 Pup) and a start relay mounted on the side wall of the engine c...
