Re: Reducing black smoke and clatter

If your current insulation does not have the mass loaded vinyl (hardish center) it's almost useless. That product used correctly has taken clients from 118db to 82db huge difference.

My favorite engine room insulation ,I use 3m super 90 spray adhesive spray on foam side and inside engine cover wait 60 seconds and press together. Make nice cuts for a perfect tight fit.

Soundproofing is critical for diesel engines. I do yacht engine room soundproofing for a living. There is 1" thick engine room soundproofing that gets spray adhesive application, I would strongly suggest you look into that. Now it is made with foam, pvc replaced the lead, foil face and mylar. C...

Re: Electric fan, engine clean

14 inch curved blade(quiter) fit stock radiator I didn't use a factory shroud just the surround it came with. 7.5 amp draw, 1720 cm. I did led conversation to minimize the load. Replaced stiff wire from alt. Cleaned connectors, so far works great.

Electric fan, engine clean

Well I finally did it, I got my engine clean (this is where angels trumpets hail). I did a conversion to electric fan so radiator was coming out, water pump was dripping from the shaft so I was going there. That far in I decided to pull alt. P/s and paint wheel wells. The degrease was ROUGH gel degr...

I'm with red truck on this. Process of elimination. I have done the same, led, electric fan and lift pump and I'm ok. So isolate and diagnose.

Re: Water Pump Gasket Sealant ?

I'm a fan of permatex ultra blue for that too. Front and back, circle water jackets good. I'm in the process of electric fan conversion. I am thinking without the weight of the fan and clutch hanging way out off the water pump shaft my pump should last longer, we will see.
